Children’s Medical Center believes in treating the whole child and part of this is through counseling and therapy. We are very proud to be the only pediatrician in the Upstate with a behavioral health program staffed by a professionally trained and certified psychiatrist and counselors.


Our mission within our behavioral services is to provide meaningful and timely assistance in navigating the challenges of being a child.


Getting help for your child's behavioral and emotional needs should not be a complicated process. Working in conjunction with your primary care providers, we grow with your child through all of the challenges they face not just today but tomorrow. At each phase of their lives we are here to assure they progress forward to a successful and meaningful life.

Behavioral Health Services Offered:


  • Assessment of Overall Mental Health and Counseling/Medication needs for: anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, behaviors and unusual behaviors
  • Individual Counseling for: anxiety, depression, trauma, phase of life Issues, college prep, school performance, home/school behavior and sexual/gender identity issues
  • Parent Counseling: We assist in any needs for å discipline/communication with children as well as offering services to better understand the issues your child may be facing
  • Crisis Intervention Services: Crisis does not wait for a referral, we offer timely appointments to address immediate crisis to all CMC patients

Alexis R., LPC-S

    Alexis Reamer is a licensed professional counselor supervisor with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. She currently serves as the Director of Counseling Services at Children’s Medical Center, where she leads a team dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health support to children and their families.


    Alexis holds two master’s degrees from Grand Canyon University—one in Professional Counseling and another in Addiction Counseling. She also earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Saint Ambrose University. Her extensive background in mental health services has equipped her with expertise in both clinical practice and leadership, making her a key figure in the mental health community.

     

    In her current roles, Alexis remains committed to fostering emotional well-being and resilience in individuals of all ages, using her skills to create a positive impact in the lives of those she serves.

Brian C., LPCA

    Brian is a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to supporting the emotional and mental well-being of children, adolescents, and their families. He specializes in helping young people navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, school-related stress, and family dynamics.


    Drawing on a compassionate, client-centered approach, he tailors interventions to meet each individual’s needs. Brian incorporates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and mindfulness techniques to foster resilience, self-awareness, and emotional regulation in young clients.


    In addition to one-on-one counseling, he works collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and educators to create supportive environments that empower children and teens to thrive.


    Brian says his mission is "to provide a safe, nurturing space where young people feel heard, valued, and equipped to overcome life’s challenges."

     

    He holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and maintains ongoing training in child development and trauma-informed care.


    When not in session, he enjoys spending quality time with his spouse and 14 and 8 year-old boys, cycling, and working out in the gym.


    He also actively participates in community initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health resources for youth.

Meg E., LPCA

    Meg is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Mississippi College and a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College and Theological Seminary. 

     

    Meg has experience counseling children, adolescents, parents, and families in community mental health and in nonprofit organizations. Meg enjoys utilizing sandtray therapy, play therapy, and family therapy and working with Spanish-speaking patients. Meg utilizes a warm and compassionate approach to support children, parents, and families as they navigate all of life's challenges.

     

    Meg enjoys cooking, hosting people in her home, learning new board games, and spending time with her husband.

    I joined the CMC team in 2024. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology and minor in sociology from University of South Carolina Aiken. I received my Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and now a licensed professional counseling associate (LPC-A). I have a passion working with children and grateful to be able to continue to do that now within counseling. I love to spend time with my family, loves anything sweet, going to the beach, and watching a good action movie.

    Tonya has a Broadcast Journalism degree from Bob Jones University. When she is not at CMC, Tonya loves spending time with family and friends, hiking, and biking.

Madison K., LPCA

    Madison Kerber is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hope College in Michigan and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity International University in Illinois. Madison has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in a private practice and higher education setting.

     

    Outside of work, Madison enjoys hiking in the mountains, grabbing a coffee with her husband, and practicing yoga. 

Bryce N., LPCA

    Bryce graduated from Liberty University in 2022 with an MA in Professional Counseling. He is currently licensed in South Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A). Bryce has been trained for inpatient and outpatient therapy, addiction counseling, family counseling, and crisis intervention.


    In previous work, Bryce operated as a behavioral therapist for children and young adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. He helped them develop social skills, regulate their emotions, communicate effectively, and strengthen independent

    living skills that were pertinent to their immediate development. Bryce also worked in a school setting as a mental health counselor. He met with students of all ages, from K4 to seniors in high school, and helps them cope, process, and navigate a variety of life challenges.


    Bryce is passionate about the journey of mental health counseling, which always starts with the belief that every student who steps into the counseling office possesses a unique and untold story. Bryce is open to spending time with anyone who desires to step out and begin the journey of counseling together.


    Outside the work of counseling, Bryce lives in Taylors, SC with his beautiful wife and two wonderful children.

Andrew P., LPCA

    Andy is a licensed professional counseling associate (LPC-A) who received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Loyola University Maryland and went on to earn his master’s in clinical mental health counseling from John Carroll University in Cleveland Ohio.  


    In his free time Andy enjoys spending time with his loved ones, cheering on his favorite sports teams and playing chess.

    Amy Rickwalder joined the CMC team in 2023.


    She is a licensed professional counseling associate (LPC-A) who received her bachelor's degree in psychology, with a minor in child and family studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. And went on to receive a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Syracuse University.


    Amy loves to spend time with loved ones, the outdoors, reading, listening to music, and has a passion for working with children

    Mikaela is a licensed professional counseling associate (LPC-A) who received her bachelor's degree in psychology and an Ed.S in Professional Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from Middle Tennessee State University. 


    Mikaela loves to spend time with her loved ones and her dog Hunter, as well as reading, playing volleyball/ pickleball, and art. Furthermore, she has a passion for working with children and adolescents.
